If you live in the Netherlands, you have to file a tax return on your income. You may also have to file a tax return if you live outside the Netherlands and have income from the Netherlands. Depending on the year for which you file your income tax return, you canuse the tax return app, the online tax returnprogramme or the tax return form. After you file your tax return, you will receive a (provisional) assessment stating how much money you will get back or have to pay.

Every year, all employees receive an annual statement (jaaropgave) from the organisation they work for. You need the annual statement for your annual income tax return.. Most of the information on your annual statement have already been forwarded to the tax authorities by your employer. This leaves you with little else to fill in once you go to file the tax return, you actually only need to check the data. To officially do the tax return you have to go to โmijn belastingdienstโ at belastingdienst.nl and log in with your DigiD. Here your tax return will be ready to be checked. Itโs important to check everything, especially:
– Gross salary (fiscaal loon)
– Tax & insurance contributions (loonheffing)
– Tax credits (arbeidskorting) if applicable
The deadline for filing your tax return is April 30, 2023, and you will most likely get an answer by July 1, 2023. However, you can ask for a postponement until September 2023.
